WELCOME TO SHOREWOOD LITTLE LEAGUE!
Shorewood Little League is a non-profit organization whose mission is to foster youth development and community through the game of baseball. The goal of Little League and its coaches is to develop the qualities of citizenship, teamwork, resilience and physical well-being. We seek to provide a safe, fun, wholesome combination of recreation and competition to players who are ages 6 through 14, through regular season play and an end-of-season tournament among local teams. In 2023 we are also offering softball for the first time, in collaboration with the Shorewood Girls Softball League. The vast majority of our games, whether for baseball or softball, take place right here in Shorewood, with a few games hosted by our friends in Lake Park Little League or other nearby leagues.
Through Little League International, SLL also participates in the largest sports tournament in the world, which concludes with the Little League World Series in Williamsport each year. The tournament games usually start in early July and can run through August, depending on the division. These "all-star" teams are for players who are league-age 9 to 12, and are formed through voting by players and coaches. For players who are selected, families should know that this does require additional time, dedication and expenses. Players in SLL who seek additional opportunities for competition and development also have a separate opportunity to try out for the Shorewood Hounds, which offers "select" teams that play in tournaments in Southeast Wisconsin and the broader region. While separate organizations, SLL and the Hounds collaborate to ensure that players are able to fully participate in both SLL and Hounds.
Thank you for considering Shorewood Little League for your child. We strive to offer a unique combination of recreation and competition, enabling our participants to reach their full potential as baseball players without sacrificing inclusivity. And along the way we have a lot of fun -- players, parents and coaches. SLL is 100% driven by volunteers, and we encourage you to get involved, to the benefit of our league, local youth, and the community.
See you at the ballfield!
